  Monday, 26 September 2022 Weekly Notice - Term 3, Week 10   Welcome to Week 10, the last week of Term 3 2022. The October School Holidays start at the end of the week, as does the new fishing season on Saturday the First, so everybody can probably guess what Mr Bach will be doing all day Saturday! I am still battling with COVID that my husband lovingly shared with me, but I hope to be back on deck on Wednesday all going to plan.  This week we have our School Production, Little Red Rocking Hood that will dominate proceedings, with a Dress Rehearsal on Tuesday and matinee and evening shows on Wednesday and Thursday. The evening shows are sold out but there are still tickets available for the matinee shows. Mrs Trask has done a magnificent job with her organisation and direction of the show and we are looking forward to seeing children in action.   Weekly Notices, Term 3, Week 9 Welcome, all parents and caregivers to Week 9. Unfortunately Covid has finally caught me so we will have a wonderful reliever in to teach Ruma 15. this week With Spring well and truly in the air we have been exploring the world around us and noticing the changes that this brings.  We have also been exploring the extraordinary life of Queen Elizabeth II with the children displaying special interest in Castles and Flags. If students could bring in small cardboard boxes. tubes etc, they will be able to design and create their own castles this week. There are now only two weeks until the holidays at the end of Term 3. A reminder that next week on Monday the 26th of September we will be commemorating the Queen's passing with a one-off public holiday and therefore there will be no school on this day.  Kia ora whanau! We have some fabulous authors in our classroom that have filled their current book with wonderful work and now they need a new one for their future masterpieces. The photos above and below are examples of books that we use in class currently. Please ask your child if they need one if they haven't let you know already.   Weekly Notices, Term 3, Week 8 Bonjour and welcome to a very busy Week 8 as final preparations are made for our school production. There are only 3 weeks left in the term now and we are all looking forward to Spring ramping up properly as Winter tries to keep a grip on things. Children have all recently been tested in The Structured Literacy spelling test and are all showing good progress. School Production - Little Red RockingHood Mrs Trask has been doing a wonderful job as director of our school production, a production which is starting to come together nicely. All our evening shows are now sold out, although there are still tickets available for the matinee performance.    A Rock Opera full of singing, dancing, and humour.   This is a lively, modern retelling of Little Red Riding Hood. Good morning on such a beautiful sunny day.  We are now into the second half of this term and on Thursday we are officially in Spring.  Lovely to see the daffodils flowering and blossoms beginning to appear.  It is going to be a bitter/sweet week in Room 15 for myself as I approach my last day on Friday. I am so sad to be leaving the students but I feel beyond thrilled with Shelly Taylor being the new Room 15 teacher. Most of you were able to meet her during the interviews at the beginning of the term as well as your children. She is a teacher with an enormous heart and passion for teaching. I know that your children will be in the best hands with her.  Our students were involved in some awesome activities last week, our children just love the mud and wet on the Tough Guy and Gal Challenge and our Chess team played in a NZ Tournament in Tauranga and were placed 2nd and 6th out of 18. Morena parents and caregivers on this lovely Sunday morning. The first hints of Spring are in the air with blossoms on trees, longer days, and a slight increase in temperature. We trust everyone is fine and that the big burst of viruses we have had spreading through classes over the first half of the term is nearly at its end. A reminder to keep your child at home if they are sick to halt the spread. Tough Guy and Gal Challenge On Thursday a number of children are involved in Tough Guy and Gal Challenge. If your child has registered for this event please make sure you are aware of the information about the day. Chess Team Cake Stall A Chess team is traveling to Tauranga on Friday with Mr. G and the Chess Club has organised a cake stall on Thursday at Morning Interval to raise funds for the team. St Mary's has resumed checking catfish nets at Ohinemutu on Thursdays. Today we caught three juvenile catfish and an enormous eel. Finding juvenile catfish is disappointing because this means that the adults are now actively breeding in lake Rotorua.
